UPCOMING PA EVENTS:
The Principal’s Office/PA Speaker Series: Dr. Chris Pramuk - Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium
Dr. Chris Pramuk is an Associate Professor of Theology and Chair of Ignatian Thought at Regis University. Dr. Pramuk, the keynote speaker at last year’s Jesuit Schools Network Colloquium, will offer a reflective presentation entitled “The Listening Heart of Ignatian Spirituality.” The Parent Speaker series aims to have speakers address common issues involved in raising young men, and our community is especially excited to have this speaker incorporate a faith-based approach.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Luncheon: Friday, Feb. 16
Once a year, parents host a celebratory lunch for the teachers and staff as an expression of our gratitude. The annual Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon is scheduled for this Friday, Feb. 16, as part of their retreat day. We will be serving them from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., please come by and help if you can!
Jim Van Dyke, S.J., Lenten Reflection and Mass - Saturday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. in the Chapel
Jim Van Dyke, S.J., will be on campus Saturday, February 24 to give a Lenten reflection and celebrate Mass. Sponsored by McQuaid’s Young Alumni Association, Fr. Van Dyke’s reflection will center around taking a different approach to Lent than we are used to. The reflection begins at 4 p.m. in the Fr. Salmon Chapel with Mass immediately following. Fr. Van Dyke taught English at McQuaid from 2002-06 and was instrumental in the establishment of the school’s crew team. He currently is the director of Ignatian formation at Canisius High School and will begin service as President of Georgetown Preparatory School in July.
National Honor Society Reception - Thursday, March 1 at 7 p.m. outside the Chapel
The National Honor Society recognition ceremony is a celebration of the hard work and dedication of the new McQuaid NHS inductees. A reception following the ceremony is held outside the chapel. McQuaid parents are invited to provide finger-desserts and drinks and volunteer to celebrate with attending families. To volunteer - click here
Middle School Parent Mixer - Friday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in the Middle School Atrium
The Middle School Mixer is an evening event for all McQuaid parents beginning at 7 p.m. on March 9 and coincides with the seventh and eighth grade activity night held at the same time. Drop-off the kids and head upstairs for an enjoyable social where wine, beer, food and fun will be served.

“Praying with the Passion of Jesus” Lenten Reflections - March 7, 14 & 21 from 8:10 a.m.-8:30 a.m. in the Chapel
Led by Dr. Damian Zynda, the “Praying with the Passion of Jesus” retreat will allow participants to enter into how Ignatius invited us to pray with the Passion of Jesus. Each gathering will include a prayer experience, reflection on that experience, an opportunity for sharing of graces and a handout for the week to guide one’s personal prayer.
Mother/Son Ignatian Reflection - Sunday, March 11 from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. in the Chapel
This event will be guided by “Companions in a Mission of Reconciliation and Justice,” a recently released document which guides the mission focus for the Society of Jesus. This reflection will begin with an understanding of reconciliation (non-Sacramental) and justice as understood by the Jesuits. Time will be given to pray and reflect on reconciliation and justice in the dynamic relationship of mother and son. To Register - click here
“Mom Prom” 2018, Doubletree Hotel Rochester, Friday April 13, from 6:00 p.m. - 11 p.m.
The Mother-Son Social, affectionately referred to as "Mom Prom," is a memorable evening for high school students to enjoy dinner and dancing with their mothers and those who serve our students as mothers. This year's event takes place on Friday, April 13 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel Rochester (Henrietta). The evening starts with a social hour followed by dinner, dancing, and a lovely and fun evening for all. Tickets are $40 per person - click here

M & M Middle School Service - Saturday, March 10 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at St. John’s Home
McQuaid and Mercy middle schoolers (7th & 8th graders) are going to St. John’s Home at 125 Highland Avenue to assist playing bingo with the residents. This event is for 12 students, (6 boys & 6 girls) and takes place on Saturday, March 10 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Students need to bring nothing but their smiles! M & M Seniors Service - House of Mercy

Mothers for Others - Ice Pack Covers for Golisano Children’s Hospital, Wednesday, March 21 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Mothers for Others has a special evening event. Michelle Young has graciously offered to host an evening of sewing and socializing. On Wednesday, March 21st, we will be meeting at her home from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to sew ice pack covers for Golisano Children’s Hospital. Don’t worry if your sewing skills are non-existent—we need fabric cutters, folders, and pressers, as well! To sign up - click here

Father/Son Communion Breakfast
Thank you to all who participated in the success of the Father/Son Communion Breakfast, with a special shout out to Craig Cairns, Tom Darby and Dan Geen, the fathers who organized the event. We enjoyed record numbers again and Fr. Cool did an excellent job communicating to the audience of McQ boys and their male role models! Go Knights!
