McQuaid Jesuit's newest faculty and staff members spent the last week of August in orientation preparing for the start of the 2017-18 academic year as well as learning about McQuaid and its Jesuit mission. Mr. Mark Bruce joins the Guidance and Counseling office as a Middle School Counselor. A Fairport native, Mr. Bruce earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and a Master’s degree from SUNY Brockport. Mr. Bruce worked previously at Webster Schroeder High School and Leadership Academy for Young Men.
Mr. Patrick DePippo ’05 returns to his alma mater as an English teacher. After earning his Bachelor’s degree at St. Joseph’s University, Mr. DePippo served as a founding member of the faculty at Nativity Preparatory Academy in Rochester, where he returned after earning his Masters degree at Fordham. He has taught at Success Academy Charter Schools in New York City and at Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester.
Mr. Joseph Dugan ’08 also returns to his alma mater as an English teacher. Mr. Dugan earned his Bachelor’s degree at Washington and Jefferson College and his Master’s degree at SUNY Brockport. He is no stranger to our campus, serving as a coach in the hockey and baseball programs. Mr. Dugan also served as a long-term substitute in our English department at the end of last school year.
Mr. Patrick Flaherty will serve as Director of Service and Justice. Mr. Flaherty is a native of Maryland and is a graduate of Gonzaga College High School, the Jesuit high school of Washington, D.C. Prior to moving to Rochester, he served as Resource Coordinator for Catholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services in Arlington, Virginia. Mr. Flaherty earned his Bachelor’s degree at Mt. Saint Mary’s University.
Ms. Vanessa Mangovski has been hired as our new Spanish teacher. She is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan and Syracuse Universities. This is not the first time in the McQuaid Jesuit classroom for Ms. Mangovski, as she served as a student teacher here in 2013.
Mr. Mark Thomey ’89 has joined the school on a full-time basis as the new front door receptionist. Mark has served for many years as a proctor and substitute teacher and is a familiar face to many, especially those in the volleyball program where he is an assistant coach.
