MATERIALS:

1. Each student is expected to keep a 2-inch three-ring binder.  This binder:                                                      a. will be graded periodically                                                                                                                                b. must include all notes, all handouts, all homework, all quizzes and tests                                                        2. Assigned textbook:  World History:  The Human Experience                                                                        3. Outside readings provided by the instructor                                                                                                   4. Daniel Quinn, Ishmael.

ABSENCES:

1. Students who arrive to school late or who leave early and miss Global Studies are expected to see me sometime during the day.  Missed work will be given to the student so they will be prepared for the next class.                                                                                                                                                                    2. Students who are absent for an extended period of time and miss a test must make it up within 1 cycle of your return to class.                                                                                                                                             3. Missed class work and homework must be made-up the day after your return to school.                                                                                                                                                                 4. If a student skips a class, a grade of zero will be assigned for all work covered for that day.  This includes tests, quizzes, and homework.

CLASS RULES and EXPECTATIONS:

1. Students that are eating or drinking in class will receive JUG.                                                                        

2. Students found in violation of the Dress-Code will receive JUG.                                                                   3. The school administration and your family will be notified in the event of cheating, copying or plagiarizing.  In each case you will receive a grade of "0".                                                                                    4. Overall good behavior is always expected.                                                                                                       5. All assignments (reading or writing) are expected to be done ON TIME (this means the class period we meet) .  Homework will be collected and graded regularly.  Any homework or long term assignments will be marked down 10% per day late.  After one cycle the grade becomes a zero.                                                                                                                                                                     6. Students are expected to be ON TIME for class.  This means you are in the classroom and ready for work when the 4-minute class pass is over.  Students are expected to come to class prepared with books, binder, paper, pens, and pencils sharpened.                                                                                                                    7.  It is the responsibility of each student to keep a cover on their textbook.                                                     8. Please check my door for Flex time schedule.  Students are always welcome for extra help.                                                                                                                                                                     9. All long term assignments must be typed.

EVALUATION:

During the marking period students will have a total amount of possible points that they can accumulate, which is then divided into the total amount of points earned.

Example:      300 (earned points) 

                       400 (total points)           = 75%

The grade includes tests, quizzes, homework, essays, portfolios, and class participation.
