This course is an introduction to the study of some of the more important dynamics at work in the world today.  We will focus on the growth and the development of those forces or pressures that created or brought about change.  We will try to develop a better understanding of why cultures are different and the role the environment takes in shaping those changes.

In order to accomplish this goal, we will examine the dynamics of evolution, culture, society, ecology, urban growth, and population and apply them to Latin America, China, Japan, Africa, India, and Southeast Asia.
