We are pleased to announce sponsorship of our new FIRST robotics team by Time Warner Cable. and the Xerox Corporation. Together, our corporate partners have generously provided all the financial support needed to fund our team during its inaugural season.
FIRST was created 20 years ago to address decreasing student interest in science, technology and engineering. The acronym means (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Today, over 1500 schools worldwide participate in regional and national competitions with intentions ranging from winning events to securing college scholarship opportunities. Locally, a regional competition is held at Rochester Institute of Technology in March. For more information on the activity, visit www.usfirst.org.
The commitment required for student participation is similar to a varsity sport. The most intensive period occurs from early January to mid-February in the period known as the "design and build" season. During this time, we will be meeting a few days after-school and all day on Saturdays each week.
To learn more, we have created a seperate web site, www.IgKNIGHTers.com. For more information or a question, please contact John Maxwell or Ralph Hudack at Ralph.Hudack@usa.xerox.com.
