Institutional Advancement's Role
While tuition is the main funding source for the day-to-day operations, charitable giving covers 20% of operational costs each year. Every family at McQuaid receives some form of financial aid even if tuition is fully paid. The cost of tuition covers only 77% of the true cost to educate each student. Advancement programs do more than just keep the lights on; they are essential in helping young men realize their potential to become “Men for Others” in the Jesuit tradition.
Students are the primary beneficiaries of charitable giving through:
• Student Retreats and service trips
• Scholarship and need-based financial aid
• Outstanding facilities and student programming
• Athletics, fine arts and many other co-curricular programs and clubs
• Ignatian and Professional development for our dedicated faculty and staff
The most effective way to support the economic success of the school is to give to the McQuaid Jesuit Fund. In addition to the Fund, there are a variety of other programs that you can participate in to support the school.
Overview of 2012-13 Annual Giving Programs
There are seven programs at McQuaid Jesuit that run throughout the course of the fiscal year. Listed below are the various Institutional Advancement giving programs and the impact they have on McQuaid Jesuit.
McQuaid Jesuit Fund
The 2012-13 McQuaid Jesuit Fund goal is $1.12 million. This fund is the school's annual campaign which includes our alumni, parents, friends and foundations. This fund provides the support needed to sustain and advance McQuaid Jesuit’s reputation as an excellent secondary education institution in the Jesuit tradition.
BASH (Building A Scholastic Heritage)
BASH is an annual tradition at McQuaid Jesuit. Each spring we invite students, alumni, parents, faculty/staff and friends to participate in this two-day fundraising event as volunteers and/or guests. BASH begins Friday evening with a Family Fun Night in the cafeteria and gymnasium which includes carnival games, fun, food and a family-friendly silent auction. Friday is a casual night and free to all who wish to attend. Saturday Night is a formal dinner with a Live Auction. Individual tickets can be purchased and corporate sponsorships are available.
Alumni Events
Alumni events like the Bull Roast and Reunion Weekend bring the alumni back to campus to reminisce with classmates and tell old stories. Regional Reunion events are also held throughout the country on an annual basis.

Student Magazine Drive
Each fall we kick off our annual QSP magazine fundraiser which is the school’s only all-student fundraiser run by the Advancement Office. McQuaid Jesuit earns 40% profit on every magazine ordered, therefore, participation is very important. The magazine drive has moved to a completely online approach this year. Students have the ability to earn a Best Buy gift card based on the number of subscriptions sold.
Capital Projects and Improvements
McQuaid Jesuit is continually making capital improvements to ensure its facilities are modern and serve its students’ needs. Future projects will seek to update the dining services in the cafeteria with a focus on healthy eating and to make state-of-the-art science lab renovations. If you are interested in supporting a capital project, please contact Pamela White
Planned Giving
The Fr. Noonan Knights Heritage Society consists of McQuaid Jesuit supporters that incorporate the school in their wills and make McQuaid Jesuit a beneficiary of their estate. The benefit to you of including McQuaid Jesuit in your will is that you accomplish a philanthropic objective and retain control of your assets during life. To learn more about being a Fr. Noonan Knights Heritage Society member please contact Pamela White.
McQuaid Jesuit Endowment
The McQuaid Jesuit endowment is a crucial factor in offsetting the gap between tuition and the actual cost to educate a student. The endowment is a combination of the general, permanently restricted endowment fund and established, “named” endowed scholarship funds. Only the income generated by the fund will be used to support McQuaid Jesuit’s mission, leaving the principal intact. Each year we use about 5% of our endowment to help provide this Financial Aid to our McQuaid Jesuit families. If you are interested in supporting the McQuaid Jesuit Endowment, please contact Pamela White.
