Ray Ruhlman Selected to Study Lincoln
McQuaid Jesuit history teacher Ray Ruhlmann has been selected by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History to spend a week this July studying “The World of Abraham Lincoln” at Gettysburg College. The course is lead by Professor Allen Guelzo, one of the nation’s leading Lincoln scholars, and will cover such topics as Lincoln’s participation in the clash of religion and the enlightenment, slavery, and the fight for the survival of democracy. Mr Ruhlmann is an attorney and retired Marine Officer who has taught Government, Law, American History, and American Military History at McQuaid since 2004.
Congratulations to Faculty Member Erin-Kathleen McMahon
In March, St. John Fisher College hosted an Irish Studies Conference to introduce their new Irish Studies Program. Faculty member Erin-Kathleen McMahon was invited to join the President of St. John Fisher College at a private luncheon before the conference to welcome the keynote speaker, Hon. James T. Walsh, former US Congressman and former Chairman of the Congressional Friends of Ireland, along with Hon. Alex Maskey, first member of Sinn Sein to servce as Belfast's Lord Mayor. Ms. McMahon's Intensive Gaelic class attended the conference and were invited to the luncheon where they lead the group in grace recited in Gaelic.

Faculty Member receives grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities
Laurie Farber was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to study the composer Dvorak. The seminar will take place in Pittsburgh under the auspices of the Pittsburgh Symphony during the month of July.
