The McQuaid Jesuit Rugby team capped yet another great season by earning their second New York State Championship title in 3 years. Fairport scored a penalty goal first to make it, 3-0, but it was all McQuaid Jesuit after that. Aaron George scooped up the ensuing kickoff and went in untouched for a 7-3 McQuaid lead. Shortly afterward, Charles Meagher blocked a Fairport clearance kick and gathered the ball for a score under the posts to make it 14-3. McQuaid got additional scores from Jordan Ghyzel as well Tom Pasko and two additional from Meagher for a 35-10 halftime score. In the 2nd half, Seery Donnan came off the bench for a score, followed by a penalty goal from Meagher, and Matt Ignarri capped the scoring at 57-10. McQuaid Jesuit Rugby was led in scoring by Meagher, who accounted for 18 points, and Brett Fischmann, who went 6 for 6 on conversions tallying 12 points.
In the past three years, the McQuaid Jesuit Rugby Program has seen unprecedented success. During this span, McQuaid has garnered three consecutive undefeated league season as well as three consecutive conference championships. The 2010 and 2012 seasons were capped by New York State Championships, while in 2011 McQuaid qualified for the High School National Championships, finishing sixth in the country.
