| Welcome to the World Religions Home Course Description: Instead of superficially exploring all dimensions of the worlds religions, this course is designed to offer depth in the study of world religions. Given the multifaceted nature of the religious experience and the great many religions of the world, it would be impossible to do otherwise in the short time we have. There will be an introductory lecture or two at the beginning of each unit on a major religion. However, we will spend the majority of our time in class reading and discussing various sacred texts of the world. While you will be given a general context in which to understand the texts, you will be required to explore the ideas of the great religions through their own literature. In the process we will come to some understanding of the similarities and differences between the great religions of the world. |
