McQuaid Jesuit High School Service Trip
Young Neighbors In Action
June 18-24th in Detroit Michigan

Who: Open to all McQuaid sophomores. Applications are available in the campus ministry office. We will take fifteen McQuaid students, and join other students from across the US.

What:Young Neighbors In Action is a week long immersion trip program. Each day teams of students and adults will volunteer in the community on a variety of projects such as home repair, cleaning vacant lots, playing with children at a daycare, etc. Each evening we will have a structured program that will include time for reflection, presentations, and social time.

When:The Y.N.I.A. service trip to Detroit will run from June 18- 24, 2005

Where: The Participants stay in a retreat house setting, with 4-8 beds per dormitory/bunk-style room. Participants must supply their own linens or sleeping bags, pillows and towels. Showers are available on-site.

Why: The YNIA Detroit service trip provides us with the opportunity to:

  • Embody the mission of McQuaid to be “Men for Others”.
  • Learn and grow in new and profound ways.
  • Deepen friendships with fellow McQuaid students.
  • Meet new people and have fun while serving others.
  • Expand horizons by being challenged in a supportive environment.
  • Serve God and live out the Gospel values.
  • Renew your faith and have a great time in an unforgettable week!

How: To participate in the Young Neighbors In Action program students must complete a short application stating your reasons for wanting to participate. The cost of the program will depend on transportation, but will be about $320 for the week. Scholarship money is available if there is financial need.
