Biodiversity Project
The Biodiversity Project is a school-based gardening and public service
project. Students can earn MAGIS credit for the time they devote to planning,
planting, tending and harvesting. Food deliveries to a local food bank are made
during August and September. This activity is open to grades 7-12 and is a good
preparation for a career in biology, botany, or environmental science.
Meetings One or two times per week February
through May and September through October. One working session per week during
the summer months.
McQuaid also has a senior course elective in biodiversity. Students in this course prepare and plant the
garden each spring and supervise the fall harvest in addition to completing an academic examination of issues in the new science
of biodiversity.
Web address The Biodiversity Project maintains its own web
server, with additional information and features. If you wish to visit the main
Biodiversity Project site, check this web address: http://www.biodiversityproject.com.
