Christian Service
Program
The
McQuaid Jesuit Parents' Association would like
to share in the formation of our sons as
"Men For Others" by offering parents
the opportunity to participate in service
projects alongside of or in addition to
what our sons' do in their Magis projects..
Such an endeavor provides parents
with a unique opportunity to spend quality
time with their sons, serve the community
and fulfill McQuaid's Jesuit mission at
the same time.
The
Parents' Christian Service Project will
be largely self-directed by those parents
who participate with or without their sons.
In the near future, the Parents' Association
web pages at www.mcquaid.org will allow
parents to sign up and register for the
projects on which they would like to work,
and have links to the Magis web pages allowing
participants to record the services performed.
Web sites such as www. communitywishbook.com
or www.uwrochester.org. can provide participants
with many volunteer opportunities as can
the Magis web pages at www.mcquaid.org.
The Association will post notices and send
e-mails seeking volunteers for specific
one-time projects where there is a special
need.
Small
amounts of time can make a big difference
in the lives of those in need. In
serving others, we not only build up the
community and McQuaid Jesuit, but ultimately we
build up ourselves and give greater glory
to God. Serving with our sons in this
way can forge a bond that will last a lifetime.
When
the heart is touched by direct experience,
The
mind may be challenged to change. Personal
Involvement
with innocent suffering, with the
Injustice
others suffer, is the catalyst for solidarity
Which
then gives rise to intellectual inquiry
and
Moral
reflection.
