Constitution

"Share the Experience"

1.  PREAMBLE:  …[and] has as its goal the promotion of greater family involvement in McQuaid, thereby strengthening and encouraging close bonds among parents/guardians, faculty/staff/administration, students, and the Board of Trustees.

2. ADVISORY BOARD:  [The Advisory Board shall] work with the Board of Trustees and the school administration in order to carry out the purposes of the Parents’ Association.

3.  PURPOSE:  The Advisory Board shall work to encourage greater family involvement in McQuaid, particularly directing its activities toward the participation of the members of the Parents’ Association in the academic, financial, public relations, religious, and social life of the school.

4.  RESPONSIBILITIES:

        B.  Provide a forum for member of the Parents’ Association to communicate their views to the administration and to the Board of Trustees.

        D.  Engaging in whatever activities the Advisory Board deems appropriate to enhance the participation of Parents’ Association members in the academic, financial, public relations, religious, and social life of the school.

5.  [ADVISORY BOARD] MEMBERSHIP:  …[T]he officers of the Parents’ Association, the chairs of the standing committees of the Parents’ Association, …the Moderator … and the immediate past President of the Parents’ Association.  

6.  MODERATOR:  

        A.  The moderator shall be appointed by McQuaid’s administration.

        B.  The moderator shall be the regular contact between the Parents’ Association and the Administration, and will communicate all the concerns of the Association to the school administrators.

6. [Sic] OFFICERS:  

        ….

        7.  Officers shall be nominated by the nominating committee, which shall be appointed by the President and shall include the Moderator.  More than one candidate may be nominated for each office.  Voting for officers shall take place at the Advisory Boards’ final meeting for the year.  Officers shall be elected by a majority vote.

        9. [Sic]  AMENDMENTS:  This Constitution may be amended by a vote of two-thirds of those present at a duly constituted meeting.  Amendments may be made only upon notice to the Advisory Board given at least at one previously scheduled Advisory Board meeting.
